Little is known about He Rongzhu 贺容珠, and practically nothing about her background before
joining the Shanghai Shadow Play Company in 1921 and having a supporting role in eight of its productions, including its first, "The Sea Oath". She appeared in a total of eight movies in the 1920s, all of them for that studio, and several in the female lead.
