Xu Sue 徐素娥 was a 1920s silent film actress, as well as the wife of popular leading man Zhang Huichong. Her movie debut was in 1924's "Public Opinion" for the Da Zhonghua film company. Later that year, she and her husband were hired by the newly organized Lianhe Film Company, appearing together in all four movies produced by Lianhe from 1924-26, films he also directed. After Lianhe ceased operations, the couple joined the Mingxing studio, and then in 1927 they started their own studio, the Huichong Film Company, specializing in swordsman films while continuing their joint careers of director/lead actor and lead actress. Xu Sue was killed in a Japanese aerial attack in early 1932 during the two-month Songhu War, while she and her husband were filming newsreel footage of the fighting.
