A reader has pointed out a broken link in our earlier article about the life and career of legendary singer/actress Zhou Xuan. In correcting the link to a selection of her songs, we found a site which included many of her songs, most by her but some that are covers by other performers. In addition, we found two Chinese movie sites which offer all of a 2008 TV miniseries about her earlier life and career, with Hong Kong actress Cecelia Cheung as Zhou Xuan. These can be found here and here. At both sites, the series is free, with commercials at the start of each episode. The series is in Mandarin, but with only Chinese subtitles. Both sites are easily navigable, even for those with no knowledge of Chinese: simply click on the episode desired, and after that the navigation symbols (pause, stop, rewind, full screen, etc.) are the same as YouTube. While a few viewers complained the series took some license with the historical facts, that is common practice in filming biographies for dramatic effect, and overall the series is quite well done, beautifully capturing the sights and sounds of old Shanghai.
